Born
and bred in Yorkshire, Jeremy has painted professionally since 1985. He
currently divides his time between painting, in oil and watercolour, and
lecturing for Ilkley and Shipley Colleges. Having no formal art training,
Jeremy was first attracted to watercolour whilst reading Philosophy at
the University of East Anglia. At the time the watercolours of Edward
Seago could still be seen in the windows of one or two Norwich galleries!
Back in Yorkshire, the work of Angus Rands and Joe Pighills provided inspiration,
and, after spells in East Africa, Jeremy "fell into" painting
for a living. Early succeses at the British Watercolour Society shows
in Ilkley led to work for card and print companies, as well as some book
illustration. In 1992 an invitation to run a watercolour class for Ilkley
College led to an ever increasing workload of teaching and demonstration.
Jeremy is a member of the British Watercolour Society and is a fellow
of the International Guild of Artists. |
